Nizoral (Ketoconazole)

The medicine is used for treatment of the fungal infections. For other conditions the medicine is directed by your doctor.

Nizoral is used only on doctor’s orders. For exact dosing instructions you must check the docket on the Nizoral.

The medicin take by without or with food.

Do not take an antacid within 2 hours after or 1 hour before after you take medicin.

Take Nizoral at least 2 hours before if you are also taking an H2 antagonist (eg, famotidine), an anticholinergic (eg, hyoscyamine), or a proton pump inhibitor (eg, omeprazole).

You to heal up your infection in full when you are take the Nizoral for the full course of treatment. Even if in a few days you are feeling better, continue the course.

The medicine works best if you have taken it the same time each day.

Nizoral is an azole antifungal. The medicine is kills sensitive fungi by interfering with the formation of the fungal cell membrane.

Take Nizoral as soon as possible, if you ignore a dose of medicine. You must go back to your regular dosing shedule even if it is almost time for next dose. Remember no way do not take 2 dose at once.

Nizoral cream: protect from light and store at a temperature not above 77 degrees F. Nizoral tablets: protect from moisture and store at 59-86degrees F.

If you are allergic to any component in Nizoral or you are taking an aldosterone bloker (eg, eplerenone), cisapride, astemizole, dofetelide, conivaptan, an ergot alkaloid (eg, ergotamine), midasolam, erythromycin, nevirapine, a quinazoline (eg, alfuzosin), pimozide, rifabutin, quinidine, rifampin, triazolam, terfenadine, a 5-HT receptor agonist (eg, eletriptan) or you have a fungal infection of the fungal meningitis do NOT use Nizoral.

Some components of the Nizoral may interact with others medical conditions. If you have any other apply of the following tell about your doctor:

You are planning to become pregnant; you are pregnant or are breast-feeding
You are taking any nonprescription and prescription medicine, dietary supplement or herbal preparation

You are having allergies to foods, medicines or other substances

You are allergic to other azole antifungals

You have low stomach acid (eg, hypochlorhydria)

You have blood problems (eg, prophyria), alcohol abuse or dependence, regular alcohol use, or a history of liver disease.

Some components of the Nizoral may interact with others medical conditions. If you are taking any other medicines of the following tell about your doctor:

Many nonprescription and prescription medicines (eg, used for infections, seizures HIV, , anxiety, heartburn, diabetes, sleep, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart problems, allergies, pain, irregular heartbeat, asthma, blood thinning, migraines, prostate problems, cancer, mood or mental problems, erectile dysfunction, immune system suppression, multivitamin products, or contraception [birth control]), urinary problems, and herbal or dietary supplements may interact with Nizoral , increasing the risk of serious side effects.

Rifabutin, nevirapine, or rifampin because they may decrease Nizoral’s effectiveness

Erythromycin, cisapride, astemizole, dofetilide, quinidine, pimozide, or terfenadine because the risk of severe heart effects may be increased

Midazolam or triazolam because the risk of their side effects and their actions may be increased by medicine, breathing difficulties and resulting in increased risk of sedation

Conivaptan, ergot alkaloids (eg, ergotamine), aldosterone blockers (eg, eplerenone), 5-HT receptor agonists (eg, eletriptan), quinazolines (eg, alfuzosin) or because the risk of their side effects may be increased by Nizoral

Many people have minor or no side effects in spite of all medicines account for side effects. If any of follow effects are persist or become bothersome tell your doctor:

Stomach pain; nausea; or upset.

Take care if any of these severe side effects to turn up:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; itching; hives; tightness in the chest; difficulty breathing; swelling of the mouth, lips, face, or tongue); bloating; irregular heartbeat; decreased sexual ability; depression; dark urine; chills, persistent sore throat, or fever; pale stools; numbness or tingling of the feet or hands; loss of appetite; stomach pain or severe or persistent nausea; tender abdomen or swollen; unusual tiredness or fatigue; bleeding or unusual bruising; thoughts of suicide; vomiting; vision changes; yellowing of the eyes or skin.
